The Whole Cancer Thing

Worst. Trend. Ever.

But seriously, I couldn’t confirm the “3 in 4 people will get cancer at some point in their lives” thing with an admittedly short search, and I decided to stop looking after seeing a whole bunch of depressing statistics.

One thing this journey (which started in January 2021, and I’m typing this in May of 2026) has really cemented in place is the impact of curating the bejeebus out of the content one consumes. Pinterest can be a great mental palate cleanser.

I’m putting this messy little stream of consciousness thing here to help nudge myself to share some of the journey at some point.

Not so much the horrific, agonizing, or astoundingly gory parts, (though maybe some of those too at some point) but moreso the little bits of.. (goes to thesaurus to find something other than “wisdom”) observation that have begun to coalesce as I begin to feel so much better. And also a little less like I have radioactive cottage cheese for brains. (Fucking HUZZAH for that improvement!)

My brain, though still very much addled, is far less so than at the height of what one oncologist described as “epic chemo brain.” So I’m going to try easing it back into use, and pay close attentions to what neurons fire together, so they’ll hopefully wire together.
